Off to the beach again.
Its labour day weekend!
I decided to take the heat and go to the beach today. So we ended up at Capitola beach.
Sophie first refused to walk on the sand. She was complaining that sand was getting into her crocs. So we had to carry her to the spot where we set up our umbrella and chair. Yay, finally used the new beach chair we bought on sale after summer LAST year!
And then she refused to walk to the sea to get some water. Scared of the crashing waves and the vast unknown horizons.
Finally, they got down to playing with the sand.

Sophie loves train-train
We took the Caltrain from Sunnyvale to Palo Alro which is about a 15 min ride for 3 bucks each way. Sophie loves train and bus!
And then we walked around downtown and Stanford mall. By the time we were ready to go home, my legs were about to give way.
The train only comes once an hour on weekends, and since we arrive 45 min early for the next train, we had to sit around and wait. Sophie enjoyed some cheesecake while waiting, while I rested with my belly, extremely big belly...

A crab feast at Santa Barbara
First time getting both our hands dirty for crabs with wriggly Soph=success! I only suffered some strawberry stains on my clothes.

Wierd but great tastes!
We went on a spontaneous trip to Solvang and Santa Barbara this weekend. Felt pretty relaxed this time because I wasn't too stressed out about Soph eating enough or sleeping at the right times. I figured that if she's hungry she'll eat. If she's tired she'll sleep.
At Solvang for lunch, we ordered a table of super unhealthy food. Fried chicken with fries, chilli, and kid's meal meatballs dinner for Soph.
A table of good food and guess what she chose to eat? The carrots on the side! She ate all the baby carrots in the fried chicken dish and the meatballs dinner.
About 10 sticks or so. And didn't really care for anything else. Not even the fries or fried chicken?!? What a healthy eater!

But she really likes jam too. She can just scoop up mouthfuls of jam without bread. Yuks, so sweet.
She even dipped the Danish sausage into jam and ate it. Toddlers are so weird. She doesn't like cakes or cupcakes or custard puffs. Shakes her head violently at them as though they are poisonous. She doesn't get excited about ice-cream either. i think she hates that it's cold. But she loves the free madeleines from Paris Baguette.

Soup GIrl and Milo Girl
These two chaps were up at 5 am because we were catching a flight to return to reality.
Gloria loves Milo. Sophie loves Soup.
Sophie is really improving on her fine motor skills. See how she can coordinate her left hand to hold the bowl with her right hand to hold the spoon and drink up! This was very salty, porky fiish ball soup at the T3 food court. But who cares, I'm glad that she enjoys her soup!

Seattle
Seattle Seattle... come and gone. It was a quick four days, in and out of Seattle. No Vancouver as planned, because we forgot my green card! Wasted one night's room stay (x2 rooms!) in Vancouver, oh well lesson learnt.
Sophie goes berserk when she sees balloons-running to them and not wanting to leave. We got her such a nice teddy bear one but I guess it's nowhere compared to a plain round balloon.
We also got to hang out with the chin-chows where they kindly let us stay at their place for 2 nights. Sophie became really buddy buddy with them for their juicy watermelon and raspberries.
We took a night flight, and Sophie was crying throughout. Probably she was tired and the fella in our room kept chatting with us. Anyway she fell asleep on the light rail ride to the hotel, where she woke up and continued crying. What a bad start to my holiday, I thought.
Naturally she was still so tired the following morning that she crashed in the stroller while we were heading out for breakfast.
As it turned out, the next few days weren't that bad after all. She was back to her silly self, always wanting to run everywhere, and not caring for milk milk or eating. Always makes me wonder where she gets her energy from.
Some touristy stuff that we did were the space needle, the chihuly glass museum (they actually sent us the photos for free, don't have to pay, so rare!)
And Sophie got to hang out with her new buddy for 2 days.
