Growing Fifi

S is growing taller day by day. But she's at the awkward stage where she's getting a bit too big for newborn size but still small for three months. It's especially annoying when it comes to the footsies because she either can't really straighten her legs when they are too small or she will be swimming in the larger sizes. But I'm clearing up her wardrobe so that I can do a stock take and see what I need to buy. It's spring time and nowhere really sells fleece footsies! But it still gets cold at night! Babies can't be wearing only spring dresses at night right?!

Going to be 32 Deg C Today!

We walked to the bank and Dollar Tree this morning and it was super hot already. It's the first long walk together for three of us. Back home and sweating. It's the first time Fifi gets to expose her limbs. Can finally put those short sleeves to use.

Two-Month Check Up

S went for her two-month check this morning. She had a good gain for her head circumference, height and weight. Now she's a 9lb 1.3ounce baby. No wonder my left arm and back are starting to ache so much now. And it's only the beginning!

Doesn't she look so different from the day we brought her home from the hospital? She's filling up the whole car seat now! I'm knowing her better through her cries, smiles, coo-ing and cranky moods. She also had three immunization shots and one oral immunization. Even the needles looked long, thin and scary to me. She didn't like it one bit at the point of piercing of course. But she recovered soon after and went back to sleep. Today besides waking up to feed, she has been sleeping. No activities and song and dance - boo. But nice and quiet for me - yay.

First Shopping Trip

And it was to Babies R Us. I wonder if I still buy anything for myself anymore haha. I wanted to get the Playtex milk bottle with the wide based nipple that mimics breastfeeding (supposed to keep her mouth open) and some washable changing pad liners because she pees too often on me when I'm changing her diaper.

After the feed at 2pm, I decided that we would make a trip to Babies R Us. I was debating whether to take a nap or go out. Since she was fussing and refused to doze off on her own, I figured I might as well use this time to take her for a ride because she would definitely fall asleep during the ride. I decided to use the carrier instead of the stroller in the store because it helps her stay asleep. It was raining a little and I figured it would be too much of a hassle trying to assemble the stroller. She fussed a bit while I was trying to transfer her from the car seat to the carrier but she soon fell back to sleep after I started walking. Phew.

I found my bottle and pad liners and had some extra time to walk around Babies R Us before packing us off home by 5pm before our ticking time bomb goes off for more milk.

First Trips With Mama

The folks were gone last Thursday and Friday was a total fluster for me. I couldn't seem to get anything done. Fifi wakes up everytime I try to put her down. In the end she was crying like a mad woman even though I had her in a sling and pacifier.

After the weekend, the week started off much better now that I have my mind adjusted to working alone with her.
Yesterday the day went something like this.
Breastfeed in morning, pump while we have song and dance. (she even smiled back!)
Fifi takes a nap while I marinate stuff for dinner.
She wakes up, breastfeed, pump while singing songs.
I put her in the swing and grab a quick lunch.
She naps again.
She wakes up, breastfeed, pump while singing songs to her.
I put her in a sling and we went for a short walk around the neighbourhood.

It was my first time bringing her out alone in a carrier and I am getting more skilled at using it.
Back at home, I wake her up to breastfeed, then it was time to wipe her body and folds and some massage time.
Then dd comes home and takes over while I prepare dinner.

Today we took out first car ride alone together to the breastfeeding support group session. That wasn't too bad because I fed her before leaving the house. She has a good weight gain again this week, now 8lb 11.2ounces from 8lb 2ounces last week. She slept throughout the whole session and woke up for a short while and I fed her a bit so she could last the ride home.

We are back at home, back to the routine of breastfeed, pump and song time. But Fifi has knocked out while I was singing so I'm blogging instead while pumping.

Sometimes she's able to fall asleep by herself and I'm glad. Maybe she knows that grandpa and grandma have left so no one around to carry her to sleep all the time now.

I think I am beginning to enjoy time with her now that I've come to terms more with the low milk supply and having to supplement with formula. Once in a while I still get really frustrated when she falls asleep drinking and I have to take more than an hour to feed her. But now I try make better use of my time playing with her or giving a massage instead of fretting and trying to squeeze out every drop of milk I've got. Because babies grow up so fast and I don't want to miss these moments anymore!
