Shopper Sophie

Somehow I saw a toy shopping cart at Target and showed it to Sophie. She took to it like fish to water, breezing down the shopping isle with her cheap shopping cart (it capsized a few times while turning because the wheels were so lousy), and stopping occasionally to examine some wares on the shelves. Of course, her favourite goods to examine are... balls! Sophie shouts "ball-ball" and then runs to it. But she will always remember to get back to her cart and continue on her way.
She was too fast for me to take a sharp photo! And of course, when it's time to say our good-byes to the cart, there was a prompt meltdown.Haha.

Yummy at Taiwanese food

Posing with some cool Taiwanese dudes.
We pigged out over this weekend, having Taiwanese, Filipino, and Shanghainese food over three meals.
Loves her udon but refused to wear a bib for that meal. So scruffy!

Harvesting

Since we started planting our tomatoes late this year, so we are getting our tomatoes late too.
Finally plucked one tomato!

The dying bell pepper plant, whose leaves keep getting chewed up by snails/birds/what not is actually surviving and there are a few flowers now. I wonder if bell peppers will really come in time.

At least we have strawberries. My dying-surviving-dying-surviving strawberry plants that have followed us from Kiely Blvd and more strawberry plants I bought last year are actually really perky this year. Their leaves are all proudly facing the sun and an abundance of strawberries (sour).

Nonetheless, Sophie loves going to the plants and poking her finger among the leaves looking for red stuff. Everytime I pluck one, she gets really excited and demands it. I hosed down the strawberry, bite off the leaves and then she greedily scarves it down. That's why I never manage to take any photos. They are always gone so quickly.

Graham samples at TJs

Sophie Sophie happily trying out graham crackers at Trader Joe's.
She got really upset when her cracker fell to the floor-screaming like the world was coming to an end. What's a momma to do? Pick up the cracker from the floor, broke off a tiny piece and gave it to her as consolation. Haha.

Monterey Bay Aquarium

We visited the monterey bay aquarium, one of my favourite aquariums for their jellies on Independence Day with the grammies. Apart from being picky about her food and refusing to drink her milk milk as usual, Sophie was a doll. Overall, I think she was more interested in running around than observing. She would stop for a brief moment to look and then run off.
She was a little terrified of the new surroundings initially. But after a while, she was running amok. Sophie never stops.
The grammies devised a way of making her hold hands.

Water fun at Central Park

Independence day gave me 4 nice holidays with the Soph. but atlast all good things must come to an end. Winding down Sunday funday with a short play time at Central Park again.
Horseback riding on the little zebra...
taking a ride on the swing...
and playing with water with two other older kids.
She was totally fascinated by the flowing water, her eyes totally glued to it. Happily contented to put her hand under the water forever...

Baby loves pizza!

Sophie is trying out some samples at Trader Joes. They were promoting their flatbread and did an easy pizza sauce and mozzarella cheese over the flat bread to become pizza.
What a delicacy!

Feeding herself with a spoon

Typically during mealtimes, I hold a bowl of food and feed her. I also give her an empty bowl and spoon to tinker with, otherwise the restless babe won't be able to last till she finishes her food. Sometimes I scoop some food into her bowl, hoping that she will scoop some into her mouth. Recently, I noticed that when I put some food on her spoon, she is able to shove it pretty accurately into her mouth.

But yesterday, she managed to scoop from the bowl and into her mouth! Voila! Messy messy, but she will definitely get better over time. Yi-ma says she was amazed by the way Sophie holds onto the end of the spoon.

Sweet juicy peach!

Hello summer means plenty of fruits to eat nowadays! We have a bursting fridge of oranges, peaches, nectarines, cherries (2 kinds), grapes, lychee, watermelon, blueberries. And Sophie definitely loves her overly-ripe softie sweet peach. Watch her chow down!
