The many faces of Sophie

Dear Sophie has always never been the type of tot to sit down at meals. She seems to do well at school, eating with the other toddlers. When we go out to a restaurant, she only lasts 5 minutes in the high-chair, before she decides that she has other better things to do in life than sitting down. Giving her fruits like grapes and blueberries buys us about 5 more minutes. Lychees buy us another 2 more minutes. Mealtimes outside become stressful because we can never sit down peacefully for a meal. Of course, the non-eater is never really enticed by the food on the table. I hope this phases passes soon.

Seattle

Seattle Seattle... come and gone. It was a quick four days, in and out of Seattle. No Vancouver as planned, because we forgot my green card! Wasted one night's room stay (x2 rooms!) in Vancouver, oh well lesson learnt.
We took a night flight, and Sophie was crying throughout. Probably she was tired and the fella in our room kept chatting with us. Anyway she fell asleep on the light rail ride to the hotel, where she woke up and continued crying. What a bad start to my holiday, I thought.
Naturally she was still so tired the following morning that she crashed in the stroller while we were heading out for breakfast.
As it turned out, the next few days weren't that bad after all. She was back to her silly self, always wanting to run everywhere, and not caring for milk milk or eating. Always makes me wonder where she gets her energy from.
Some touristy stuff that we did were the space needle, the chihuly glass museum (they actually sent us the photos for free, don't have to pay, so rare!)
And Sophie got to hang out with her new buddy for 2 days.
Sophie goes berserk when she sees balloons-running to them and not wanting to leave. We got her such a nice teddy bear one but I guess it's nowhere compared to a plain round balloon.
We also got to hang out with the chin-chows where they kindly let us stay at their place for 2 nights. Sophie became really buddy buddy with them for their juicy watermelon and raspberries.

(No)-Sun, Sand, Sea and Shoe

On Sunday, we headed to the beach again. I thought the swimming diaper would be great for the beach, as it turns out, it does not hold any pee! So Sophie's pants and car seat were smelly wet, no wonder she couldn't sleep during the car ride and kept wanting to get out of her high chair during breakfast.
Nevertheless, the beach we reached! It was an overcast day, so it was cool but not windy. Sophie got to hang out with M.
And most of the time, she only cared about putting on her shoes! She's getting pretty good at putting on her shoes now. She can put them on sometimes sitting down, and sometimes standing up (she knows to hold on to something for support while putting on her shoes). And of course, chanting "shoe" or "shoe-y" when she sees them.
I dug a hole for getting moist sand to make sandcastles but M used it as a lounge chair! She's so creative!
And Sophie still working hard at the shoes...
Ahh...taking a break from shoe practising and having a drink...
