Understanding Instructions

Sophie may be small (size) but she sure knows more than what I expected. She always go to the nightstand and grabs Daddy's wallet and chapstick (even though there are a million other things in there, receipts, Iphone!, bracelet case, angbao, to name a few). She trots around happily with her spoils, plopping down on a ground occasionally to dig out loot from the wallet.
I say, "Can you pass the chapstick to Daddy?"
Sophie trots along and really passes the chapstick to him. Wah, I didn't think she would understand my instruction.

While webcamming with the Gramps, Grandpa asks Sophie about her shoes. Sophie totters to get her shoes. I say, "Show the shoes to Grandpa, show show"
Sophie sneaks one shoe on the table top in front of the laptop (and the table top is higher than her). Wah, I didn't think she would understand that either.

Today she said cook-ka (means cookie).

Buh-Bye

Sophie has mastered saying bye-bye together with a wave!

She can also say:
1. ball-ball
2. mama (not directed to me all the time)
3. daddy or daddo (sometimes she calls me this)
4. doggy
5. duckduck
6. more (together with baby signs-pinching fingers and then tapping fingers together)
7. shoe (sounds like sue)
8. balloon (sounds like bloon)
9. garden (sounds like gard-ty and then she runs to the backyard door and starts banging on it)

With Clemens at the Beach on Father's Day

The beach thing was more for my birthday than Father's Day I think. Mama's birthday takes precedence over Daddo's day after all. Haha. We went back to Brighton Beach by Capitola again, this time with more friends! I think we were better equipped this time, we had a nice beach umbrella, tent and mats/beach towels  contributed by everyone. And lots of fruits, sandwiches, and sushi (not enough food, regrefully...). Nevertheless, the tots had a lot of fun, digging around in the sand, scooping sand into a bucket with water and then splashing the muddy water in the bucket, eating sand...
The beach ball was a hot item, with the kiddos chanting "ball ball... ball ball...".
We were so busy playing that I forgot to take pictures! These are all I have...
Sophie is still scared of the rolling waves and the water!

On the Swing

Sometimes Sophie doesn't like the swing. Sometimes Sophie likes the swing. Here's one of those times.

The Scuttle Bug

We've officially said good-bye to Sophie's crawling days (boo) and hello hello to Sophie the walker. Since she is really mobile now, I looked around for a new transportation toy for her. There were many choices but we decided on the scuttle bug because we really enjoyed seeing Gloria's smirking face when she scoots down the hallway. Hope Sophie will exude that confidence one day too!
Here comes Sophie!
Here comes Gloria!

At the SF zoo on Mother's Day

We went to the SF zoo on Mother's Day because it was free entrance for me. Sophie wasn't that crazy over the animals. But she was pretty excited about walking around because that was the time she just started walking.
She made friends with a little Chinese boy who is around her age. He walked over to check out Sophie's aeroplane and Champignon toys on her stroller.

Everything on the arm

She put my hairband on her arm and swung it around like a bangle. So I passed her a few bags and she happily swung those over her arm too. Masak-masak time!

Pianos are not for sitting!

She climbed up the piano and sat on it-thinking its a chair!
