Sophie's second day at school

I think Sophie really likes school. I saw her pretty at ease in the classroom, writing, and walking around the classroom and tapped her new friend on the head. Amazing how kids adapt to new situations sometimes. I hope she doesn't regress.

Much chirpier today!

Sophie's first day at school

After winning the golden ticket to attend Meyerholz's Chinese immersion program, school has finally started!

Here is our little kindergartener on her first day at school. Sophie looked a little nervous and unsure. Things to bring to school on first day are empty backpack, lunch bag, and water bottle.

Edit

She had to sign a form to acknowledge I dunno what.

Meimei looks pretty chirpy.

The kids have to line up in single file along the fence. The teacher Ms. Lin asked all the kids to give the parents a last hug and get back in line (pretty militaristic style). Then she opened the door, hustled the kids in, told them to put their bags in their cubbies, and closed the doorZ Chop chop. No time for tears!

Week off with the girls

Daycare was closed last 2 weeks because the teacher needed a vacation. Was planning to go sg but couldn't get Sophie's passport renewed in time. Nonetheless, I tried to make it fun filled for them (and also activities make the time pass faster). On Monday, we went to Shoreline Blvd. I thought it would be a good idea to build up the girls' stamina. So no stroller of course. Sophie proved to be cooperative, but Olivia needed to be carried most of the time. I guess it's also time to increase my own stamina! We found a ship like playground where the girls played with some sand. Sophie complained that the sand wasn't wet enough for her to build sandcastles. We enjoyed the view by the lake while having some fish and chips and peanut butter jelly sandwiches for lunch. I think this is how much we hiked that time-haha not bad for beginners I think. On Tuesday, we took the Caltrain to Palo Alto.  Not easy because we had to take the train and then catch a shuttle to the mall. And continue to carry O most of the way. I wanted to catch the story telling time at PB Kids. But when I reached there, they said it wasn't available at this time. Bummer. Sophie said her favourite this week was the Caltrain ride, so at least it wasn't a wasted trip.  Good thing the mall had American girl doll store, so the girls spent a good amount of time tinkering with the toys. I think the walk really worked up Sophie's appetite as she ate up her entire pizza (minus crust) and drank my soup. This doesn't happen too often. On Wednesday/Thursday, we went to the nearby library for story telling. The girls enjoyed the story telling.  We had ramen and it was actually quite relaxing because they scarfed down their ramen themselves - and then demanded I ordered more cha shu! On Friday, we went to Oak Meadows park in Los Gatos, where they had a mini train and a carousel. The girls went on two rides each. Train toots are too loud!!  Lunch was packed onigiri and sitting by the playground - trusty lunchfood for field trips. How about a refreshing sno cone for a hot day! Straight up syrup for the girls-this doesn't happen too often. Till next time!

Two sickos

These two weeks have been the biggest ordeal in a long while... the kids got pneumonia!! Both kids! 6/17 Sat - Olivia gets a fever 6/19 Mon - Olivia goes to doc. Just virus and got sent home. Sophie comes home from daycare and has fever. 6/20 Tue - Sophie goes to doc. Just virus and got sent home. 6/22 Thur - Both kids still having fever. Went to doc. Doctor heard crackling sound from Olivia's left lung-:diagnosed with pneumonia. Sophie has chest x-ray-diagnosed with pneumonia. Both prescribed with different antibiotics  6/23 Sat - Olivia's fever has subsided but Sophie's fever still rages on. Sophie goes back to doc since antibiotics didn't show effect after 48h. But doc says need to wait until 72h so we go home. 6/24 Sun - Sophie still having high fever so we went back to doc in the evening. Doctor prescribes new antibiotics for the poor munchkin.  6/25 Mon - Sophie has high fever after waking up from nap. We go back to doctor. Sophie gets all the shabang of tears - 2nd chest x-ray, blood tests, urine test. All negative except the ketones showing that she didn't eat enough so her body is starting to burn her fat (boo). We go home and cross fingers for fever to go away tomorrow. One week of fevers for the poor munchkins!!

Gong Xi Fai Cai

This is kind of late, but still want to wish everyone a Happy New Year, although we are already half-year in.

It's easy to tell what Sophie has been learning at daycare every week, as she's always shouting the songs she learnt at the top of her voice.

This one's for grandma!

Big Goy?

Is Daddy a big boy or big girl?

"Big GOI"

and I love cake!

Fast and Furious!

It took mm a while to learn how to walk...and it also took her a while to learn how to pedal.
And suddenly, like a flip-switch, she was off!!

Fast and furious! Vroom! She's proud of her achievement and so am I!

Simple pleasures of life

Who knew that playing with rain could be so fun? (Finally, after months of this blogger app not working, now I can finally post easily from my phone again!)
